OUTREACH PROGRAMMES – OWT

2004

Ongoing

STEPPING INTO SPACES THAT ARE NOT EASILY AVAILABLE NOR ACCESSIBLE

Several diseases and ailments can be cured, or at least mitigated if help is
provided early. OWT tries to adopt models that encourage an individual to
seek help early and thus looks at a ‘preventive’ and an early detection
approach. It has been conducting outreach programmes since 2004 . Our
Outreach programmes work with health care professionals, district systems,
and have a strong connection with grassroots communities. The materials for
these programmes have been carefully curated, and these programmes are
also backed by a well-equipped diagnostic lab. Over the years we have
conducted more than 1000 awareness classes, 150+ screening camps, reached
out to more than 35000+ people. Since the understanding of problems associated with such diseases are miniscule among rural communities, we were among the first to set up a Palliative Care Unit in Palakkad district to provide total care to the patient and his/her family. Today our Palliative care team has provided a reassuring service for over 2000 patients, whose condition is such that they  do not respond to curative treatment.
